A Wonderful Day at Washbrooks Family Farm!

We’re so lucky here at the preschool to be surrounded by beautiful countryside, and our children recently had a fantastic time visiting one of our local farms — Washbrooks Family Farm!

Thanks to our partnership with Burgess Hill School for Girls, we were able to make the trip extra special by using their minibus (and lovely driver!) to take the children safely to the farm.

As soon as we arrived, the excitement began with the pumpkin patch. The children loved exploring the different shapes, sizes and colours of the pumpkins, chatting about their favourites and even practising some counting together!

Next, it was time to meet the animals. There were ducks, geese, chickens, rabbits, sheep, goats, pigs and donkeys in the barn, followed by a lovely walk around the fields to see the horses, cows and alpacas. The children were full of curiosity, asking thoughtful questions and sharing what they already knew about farm life.

After all that exploring, everyone enjoyed a well-earned snack in the autumn sunshine before finishing the visit with plenty of fun in the play area — building castles in the sandpit and working together beautifully.

Trips like this are such a valuable part of our curriculum. They help children explore the wider world, develop independence, and build confidence in making choices. These shared experiences also strengthen friendships and connections with their keyworkers — and, of course, make for some wonderful memories!

We’re already planning more exciting outings for the year ahead and can’t wait to share our next adventure with you all.
